StoresOnline Site Tips for Online Merchants:
How To Make an Appealing Website

The internet is a like a big mall with lots of stores catching each customer to enter their shop. Your website must also be appealing to attract traffic and make them stay. Star Quality Factors on the Net • Impact Introduction - a first time meeting of any sort creates a big impression. A few seconds of expression will make or break a conversation.

Same is true for your web pages. You have to create an environment where the user will be comfortable to interact in your virtual world. A nice introduction through video streaming or audio presentation can close or give away the deal. Your introduction should have that wow factor making people to stay and be curious to explore the rest of the web content

Inviting Colors - Inviting doesn't mean to be loud. An important thing to remember is having the right color scheme to represent your website. Color schemes are how users will perceive your online image. It is very hard to imagine a bank or any financial institution to be represented by very bright colors. Likewise a dull culinary website will not be too appealing to go to.

Appropriate Design – the design of the website must revolve around how you want to present yourself or product. The simpler the better rule works for this concept. A lay out which is very light to the eye of the user is very engaging. Ease of navigation is also a big factor to consider

Brilliant Content - this part of your page does the talking. It represents that thing between the ears of your company. The more that you can make people understand what message you want to convey or what products you want to sell them the better. Developing excellent web content entails a lot of researching. Give them what they want to hear but be honest to the limitations of your website.

Inject Some Graphics - add visual invitations thru images or video streams which will give users a hint what the web page is all about. Any mind catching content can make the traffic stay and see what else you can offer them. Graphics add the attitude to your web page.

Update your Site - regularly update the contents of your site. This gives the impression that you really take care of it and you mean business. This will keep users coming back for more information. This assures them that there will be something new until their next visit. In order to create traffic to your website you must be on check for the enhancements that you can do with it.

If you are not capable of doing the upgrades or changes to your site, it will be best to hire a professional web designer to implement these things. Also inquire about search engine optimizers which can direct traffic to your business or personal page. Writers can research and create quality web contents to keep the attention of your customers or convince them that it is worth coming back.

StoresOnline Site Security Tips for Online Merchants:
10 Ways Online Merchants Can Spot Order Fraud

Here are 10 suggestions for catching online fraud before you fulfill a fraudulent order:
1) Shipping FedEx overnight is often a red flag for fraud .

2) Inspect the phone number and e-mail address provided by the customer
.

3) Examine how the customer found you
. Thieves often search on phrases like "international shipping" or "overnight delivery" instead of the category or keywords.

4) Unusally large orders should be a red flag.
If you keep track of the average order size, you know when there is an unusually large order. It may be legitimate, however, when something out of the ordinary occurs, it is best to take the precaution of contacting your customer to ensure the order's validity.

5) Multiple orders of high quantities of the same item.
Very often fradulent orders are placed for a single item in unusually high quantities.

6) Look for typos, grammar and punctuation errors. Serious customers make mistakes in filling our your oder forms. But not nearly as often as thieves do.

7) Check the IP address of where the order came from
. If it's overseas order shipping to the United States, I consider the order a red flag for fraud unless I can call the phone number & speak to a live person.

8) Orders shipped to Post Office Boxes. Watch out for mail processing locations and if you are suspicious, check the order address on Google. Fraudulent orders often are listed to a service with a mail forwarding company.

9) Be suspicious if the billing address is different from the shipping address.
Whenever this happens, don't process the order unless you call the customer to confirm the order. If you make it part of regular business to call when the addresses are different, you may save yourself the headache of dealing with a fraudulent order in the long run.

10) Multiple orders can be an indicator of fraud.
When orders are place by the same customer, one after the other, with the same charge card, you might want to take the time to contact the customer to verify the multiple orders are valid.

Being cautiuous when you receive orders with these red flags can save you costly chargebacks as well as time and effort. Be a smart online business entrepreneur and protect your business from fraud.

StoresOnline Site Tips for Online Merchants:
ECommerce Is A Thriving Market

The slowing of our economy is very real and effects everything in our daily lives, but is it a little misleading to over-generalize and say that we're all in a recession and are doomed? Well, when it comes to making a living and earning money, I think it depends on how you look at things.

As unemployment rates continue to rise, gas prices soar into the stratosphere, and home values drop like crazy it's easy for us to be depressed about our countries' current state and feel like we're trapped. For the lucky rich of the nation, they are hardly bothered by all of this and have found new ways to continue making money that are actually thriving and growing year after year.

So, what's this resource that is largely untapped by the general population? Ecommerce! This secret recession killer isn't anything new, you've used it yourself, and know tons of people who've done the same.

The Entrepreneurs and independent research firms of the country have tracked eCommerce results for numerous years now and have shown a huge increase in money being exchanged for tangible or information products on the Internet. Not only that, but sales over the Internet are expected to keep growing at stunning rates for years to come. It makes sense why eCommerce is continuing to explode on our online world.

Confidence in our malls and stores is lower because of the extra costs we incur at the gas pump and time it takes away from our busy lives. The world is a hectic place and most of us are tired of dealing with annoying sales messages or salespeople all vying for our attention.

Nowadays, the consumer has more power and control than ever when researching a product and doesn't even have to leave home to do it. This is why there's so many opportunities online.

There are countless product sourcing websites out there to find things to sell on eBay or your own storefront and are quite easy to setup. In addition, you can find products that are made by other people and can sell them through what's known as affiliate links. Everyone has some form of information they're an expert on and, in that case, you can greatly benefit by writing your own eBook.

Don't think that just because talks of the recession are all over the news and pop up everywhere in our daily lives, that there aren't ways to become a part of the rich few who understand the online world of commerce. If you get out there and do some research, you too can join the club of entrepreneurs working for themselves.

If you'd like to find out more information on how you can get started making more money than you ever thought possible with eCommerce, click here to take your first step.

StoresOnline Site Search Engine Optimization Tips for Online Merchants: What is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. These days your visit and navigation in the virtual world is highly dependent on the search engines. You search for your relevant topic from a Gucci bag to a 14th century artifact in the internet with the help of a search engine. Now how relevant was that search? Were you connected to reliable sources of information? Did you get what you were looking for? Is the information helpful? A search engine may give you hundreds of pages of results, but unless it is relevant, it's just browsing through a number of irrelevant web pages which in turn means wastage of time.

Search engine optimization controls the volume and the quality of traffic to a website so that it is beneficial for both the website and the user who is looking for the information. These days there are search engine optimizers who perform the optimization on behalf of their clients. In order to increase the relevance of a site, an optimizer generally considers the following:

How Search Algorithms Work
What people search for Keywords that people use Indexing content by search robots, etc. SEO and Marketing: Search engine optimization can be effectively utilized to market your product or website. The higher up your site is ranked in the list of search engine results, the better are the chances of a user hitting it.

Your website algorithm should be listed by the SEO such that on every search your site ranks in the top. However it is also important to understand that SEO does not necessarily guarantee second hits and repeat visits. The SEO may generate initial traffic and hence the advertisements, but since search engines are not paid for traffic that is organic, their algorithms change which in turn effects continued referral. Due to this lack of certainty, a website must not solely depend on search engines for marketing.

How to utilize SEO
If you have a website and you want it to feature at the top of the search list, following simple tips could be helpful: Ensure that the content has relevant primary and secondary keywords listed by the search engine optimizers. However avoid using irrelevant keywords just so that your website ranks higher because search engines adjust their algorithms to avoid such manipulative approach. SEO can target not just text search but also visuals, industry-specific, local search, etc… so proper image and video descriptions can be effectively utilized. Effective SEO will require coding of the website during the design and development.

While utilizing the services of the SEO, remember to double-check the legal position of the SEO and whether the search engines are spamdexing any web content. Utilizing search engine optimization in order to effectively market a website or a blog is a proven tactic these days. Most websites do that and it has almost always generated good organic traffic to the website. However as prospective entrepreneur in online business, do not rely completely on SEOs for your marketing – ensure a good mix of expert content, usability and relevant information in your website for success.

StoresOnline Site Search Engine Optimization Tips for Online Merchants: Choosing Keywords for Your Website

To understand SEO you need to start at the very beginning. This involves choosing the right keywords that represent your core business. Here's how! Search engine optimization is the key to achieving high rankings with top search engines. Without good SEO skills, your site simply won't show up near the tops of those rankings and you won't be connected with a good supply of potential customers. Even if you understand what SEO is, you still need to understand a few more important points about how to do search engine optimization effectively.

Choosing Keyword Phrases
Any SEO activities must begin with you selecting specific keyword phrases with which to work. These phrases are important because they will be at the heart of your content. More importantly, these are the words you predict people will enter into search engines in order to find the types of products or services you offer. The good news is you don't have to be psychic to choose these keywords. You'll find several free tools on the Internet and many Internet marketing products come with keyword finding tools.

Here's how it works:
Think of a phrase you might use if you were a potential customer for your site. Go to the tool and enter the phrase. Let's say you sell an ebook on dog training so you naturally choose the phrase "dog training" to enter into the keyword tool. Usually, the tool will give you the search engine volume for the phrase you've entered. That lets you know how frequently people are using the term in their searches. For "dog training," you'll probably good average to high volume results. That means it's a good possibility but most keyword tools also show you how many of your competitors are also using that keyword for their optimization. If that number is very high, your chance of ranking well using that keyword phrase with your SEO is going to be reduced.

The good news is that the keyword tool should also show you a list of alternative keywords that you could use in addition to or instead of the one you initially entered. For example, "best dog training" may still have good search volume but it may not be used by as many competitors. If you optimize for that word, then you stand a better chance of achieving a solid ranking thanks to your SEO. You might also choose a phrase like "pet obedience school" which has almost no use by your competition but does have low search volume. That means some people are searching for the phrase but not many sites have utilized the term. It could be a good bet for decent rankings as well.

You should choose more than one keyword for your efforts. Remember the more words you optimize for the more you increase your chances of scoring high in the rankings for at least one of the terms. Plus, showing up in search engine results for multiple terms means you'll have even greater exposure to potential customers and leads. After you've chosen several words, you'll need to begin constructing your content around those words. Although a little tricky, SEO isn't as challenging as you might think.

StoresOnline Site Search Engine Optimization Tips for Online Merchants: How to Write a Search Engine Friendly Article

Do you think SEO article writing is beyond you or that you need to be a SEO expert to get high rankings with your next article? Think again. Believe it or not writing an article that's search engine friendly isn't rocket science but there are some rules you need to follow to get the best results. Here are some tips you need to remember for your next SEO article.

1. Although the idea of writing a SEO article is to get high ranking in the search engines and free traffic to your website you should still remember that real people are going to be reading your article. Think about it this way if I read your article and its complete gibberish with keywords throw in here and there, am I really going to want to click through to your site and take a look at what you're trying to sell me on? I doubt it?

2. Put your main keywords at the very start of your articles headline. This is useful for two reasons it helps the search engines to know what the articles about and also your reader. People have become very selective in what they read online. If I'm looking for an article on "Dog Food" and I see it easily in the article title I'm probably going to read it. But if your article title is cryptic or misleading I'll probably just move on to the next thing in the search engine results instead.

3. Make a list of other keywords related to your main one and sprinkle these throughout your article. For example if I read an article on "Dog food" and it constantly uses the same keyword over and over again it can be an overkill (and spamy) both for the search engines and your article reader. Some people recommend a keyword density of about 3% which equates to about your main keyword being used about 3 times for every 100 words that you use.

4. If you've already done any article writing in the past you'll know about using a working hyper link in your resource box linking to your website. To help make your article more search engine friendly you should use your main keyword that your article is targeting. For example if we use the keyword "Dog Food" again we'd have the keywords dog food as the clickable link to our site. But a word of caution here, if your article has nothing in common with the hyperlink don't use it. If you think about it, if I click a link for one thing and find your website hasn't anything to do with it am I really going to want to stay around?

Finally, don’t put off writing your next SEO article, give it a go and see how you get on with it. If you don't succeed the first time don't give up keep at it even though you might not have written the best SEO article you've probably put together a great article that still will send you free traffic to your website just because the search engines mightn't like but that doesn't mean your readers won't enjoy it.

StoresOnline Site Search Engine Optimization Tips for Online Merchants: 5 Success Tips for Online Marketing

With the increasing competitive market of the internet it is becoming more and more difficult to create a profitable website without extensive knowledge of search engine optimization, web page development and content writing. I for one have spent countless hours searching for the right combination of SEO to provide the optimal profits for my business. After extensive trial and error, spending money on pay per click (PPC) and optimizing my code I have made a list of the key SEO terms, their functions, and their results.

I have ordered these steps in accordance to priority and the easiest to start with if you are new to the online industry. Please note I am including terms without their definitions since they can be easily looked on Wikipedia or any search engine.

1. Submit manually to search engines. Don't always trust the majority of organizations or make bold claims of submitting you to thousands of search engines without doing research first. The reason being is that all of the popular search engines require you to type in a randomly generated code of letters and numbers that are usually scribbled. I have most likely noticed this on many websites. That is to prevent automated submissions and spam. Find a list of the most popular search engines and do it yourself, or use my recommended piece of software at the end of this article. Contact me if you would like my personal list that I have created after experiencing the results.

2. Submit to directories for back links. Search engines now ranks your website on the amount of links from other sources that you have. Particularly highly ranked sources. A good way to determine if a directory is highly ranked is to look at their Google Page Rank. The higher the page rank the more important Google finds that website. I would recommend paying a company to submit you manually as there are literally thousands of directories out there. It is inexpensive and well worth it.

3. Submit articles that are relevant to your industry. Article writing has become more and more important in advertising and ranking your website. Let's say you sell car parts online. Write an article about how to find the best deals on car parts, how you started your car part business, or educational articles on specific parts and provide a link at the end to your website. This works in two ways. One you receive a back link from a reliable source. Two it is basically free advertising. Be sure you are submitting to reputable site with high traffic and page rank.

4. Start a blog. As crazy at this may sound it is one of the best sources of traffic on the internet today. Why? Because they are the type of websites that are updated most frequently. Search engines also rank a site on how often the content is updated and the addition of new content. Blogs satisfy both of these requirements. How do you get traffic from your blog to your store? Create links at the end of each post and create advertisements on your sidebars. Visitors that enjoy reading your blog are most likely interested in your industry and products as well.

5. Coding in your website is essential. Search engines no longer ranks your site based on the META keywords tag since it can be so easily manipulated. Instead they base results on the TITLE tag, ALT Tags and Heading tags (both H1 and H2 tags). For brevities sake I will not elaborate on these tags since you can look them up in a search engine, but they are extremely important. Content is also crawled, but you will want to place your keywords, with a heavy density, in their appropriate tags. The bottom line is there is no magic bullet or quick fix to get you high rankings.

Most often it just takes time, typically 3 to 6 months to get ranked. However, I have received good rankings after about 30 days of aggressive marketing, following the above advice, and using a program called SEO Elite. What I have mentioned in this article is a very brief overview of where to get started with your SEO campaign, but if you are looking for a system to provide you the resources to maximize your profits online, I would highly recommend visiting the link below.

StoresOnline Site Search Engine Optimization Tips for Online Merchants: Website Must Haves to Improve Your Google Ranking

Say Search Engine Optimization and the first thing that pops into almost everyone's heads is keywords. Well that is part of it but there is another thing to consider that is relevant words. Relevant words are words that maybe your keywords or maybe other words that are triggered by your keywords. Relevant words, from a search engine optimization standpoint, are words that are used either together or in conjunction with your keywords. Done right, this type of search engine optimization can get you top rankings for specific key words immediately, without doing anything else — no linking and no other on page optimization.

This is because your page gets high marks for "relevance." If no other URL is ranking as high for relevance as you are, you immediate go to the top of the SERPs for that particular key word. This more or less solves your SEO issues once and for all for that particular keyword or key word phrase. Using tools such as SEO chat's Google suggest tool, or keyword tool or even a tool like overture can give you a good start on the relevant words and phrases to optimize your pages for website rank depends on a number of factors and each search engine is different.

Google has clearly outlined what their criteria for ranking are. What they have not told us is which part is weighted heaviest. In actuality, it’s not too difficult to rank well with Google. Some simple website improvements will have you on the right track to boost your rankings.

• Links–Google counts links, but they are picky about which ones they will count. They want links pointing to your site that are quality links. What constitutes a quality link is a website that is subject related, and has a higher page rank than the one it links to. Google also counts links when they are not reciprocal, they actually discount reciprocal links.

• Title Tag–Google actually looks at the page title, make it relevant, preferably including a keyword or phrase. • Content keywords–Google looks for the keywords on the page, they will rank each page on the keywords found. Don't worry about your keyword metatag, Google doesn't. Google looks only for the keywords on the page. A Quick website improvement: Insert keywords on any and every page where possible and natural.

• Keyword links–when building the links mentioned previously; request relevant text links. Clean golf balls works much better then "find clean gold balls, click here" With the words click here being the link. If you are purchasing the link make sure to specify relevant text links.

• Dynamic Pages and Google–Unlike some other search engines, Google is able to index dynamically generated pages, so long as a link exists to those pages somewhere.

• ALT tags on Images–If you have been placing images on your website without bothering to place ALT tags, now is a good time to add ALT tags. Google apparently indexes the text given in the ALT tags of images, another quick and easy website improvement.

These few things can be some of the easiest website improvements; a few minutes each day well spent and the results will show up in Google.

Eight Traits to Small Business Success

Winning in small business can be as hard as winning an Olympic race. Both take preparation, tenacity, and perseverance. While things can get tough, it’s amazing what you can accomplish with the right tools and advice, be it athletics or business. Outlined below are eight traits you might consider that will lead you to small business success.

Trait 1: Know Your Purpose
It’s very difficult to accomplish something when you don’t know where you’re headed. Ask yourself: What is it, specifically, that you want to achieve? By keeping that final outcome in mind you will keep yourself on the right track.

Trait 2: Be Confident
Just like an athlete, you must be confident that you can and will achieve your objective. If you don’t have faith that you can achieve success in your business, then you will simply give up when things get tough—and they will. As you maintain confidence in yourself, your business, and your future, you will be able to weather whatever storms come your way—and even come out on top.

Trait 3: Create a Clear Plan
Without a plan, you will be lost. Would you go on vacation with absolutely no plan of where you want to go and what you want to do?  Of course not, because with no travel plan you will not make full advantage of your vacation time. With no plan, you will wander aimlessly, missing out on all the amazing sights and activities that would otherwise be available to you. Take time to create a detailed plan for your small business, with a clear outcome in mind. Stick to this plan as much as you can but also allow for flexibility as your business changes and grows—this way you won’t miss out on anything.

Trait 4: Cooperate
Small business is unlike any other business you can enter into. In small business you don’t have the resources to hire a huge staff or several advisors, so it is essential that you learn to cooperate with others to help you succeed. You will need to cooperate with other small business owners, your clients, friends and family, and your business advisors in your path to success. Learn to do what is mutually beneficial and be prepared to compromise, and you will go far.

Trait 5: Have the Willpower to Continue
Without willpower you cannot succeed in small business. YOU are the boss, so there is no one else above you to push you. You must have the willpower to keep going even when things are tough, because it is up to you to hold everything together and succeed.

In Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich, Hill tells a story of a man, R.U. Darby,  who went west to Colorado to dig for gold. He invested a large sum of money in his gold mine but after a seemingly promising venture discovered that the gold soon ran out. After fruitless drilling, he gave up and sold his equipment to a man who continued where he left off.  It turns out that R.U. Darby was just THREE FEET short from the largest gold deposit in Colorado.

Have the willpower to keep going—because you could be just three feet from success.

Trait 6: Form Daily Habits
In a small business it’s the small things that matter. Get into the habit of performing tasks promptly and consistently—get the books done weekly, answer the phone within three rings, get quotes out within 24 hours of a request. Forming good habits will get you far.

Trait 7: Maintain Quality
Your business will change and grow as times progresses. Throughout all these changes, maintaining the quality of your business is paramount. Quality is shown in every aspect of your business, from customer service to your actual product. If you do not maintain the quality in your business as it changes than your customers and staff are not likely to want to stay with you.

Trait 8: Be 100% Persistent
Remember how R.U. Darby was just three feet from successfully finding the largest gold deposit in Colorado? Unfortunately he gave up too soon.  Of all the traits to success, persistence is the one that will absolutely carry you through to the end. No matter how things are going for your business, don’t give up—because you could be just three feet from striking gold.
